The video the church put out last year for Thanksgiving about what we are thankful for is a really great video. You should go to the church website and view it if you haven't seen it. Valerie had us watch it for Family Home Evening. I was reminded of all of the things that I am thankful for...everything. Our Father in Heaven has given us everything. Our families, our friends, our homes, the food that we eat everyday, the clothes on our backs. I am grateful for the gospel and the knowledge that He lives and loves me. The video even reminds me that we should be thankful for our adversity. This is something I struggle to be thankful for in the midst of the adversity, but what kind of people would we be if we never had any adversity. I am reminded of playing video games with Jordan. He use to get so angry on a difficult task and say, "I wish it didn't have this part." But then I would remind him that it wouldn't be any fun if it were all easy and that he would never want to play. When we make it through the struggle, how great does it feel? I have been noticing how beautiful the world we live in is lately too. With Ben Lomond sitting in my front window eveyday I get to notice those beautiful season changes and then I get to thinking how incredible it all is. The other day I was listening to the radio and I heard the perfect Thanksgiving Hymn. It isn't even suppose to be a Thanksgiving song, but it was perfect.
How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r thruout the universe displayed:
(Chorus)
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee,
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee,
How great thou art! How great thour art!
When thru the woods and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin,
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, "My God, how great thou art!"
As I listened to the song, I realized that it's just how I feel. I am so grateful for everything the Lord has blessed me with. My family, my country, my freedoms, the gospel, and of coarse for the atonement, without which this life on earth wouldn't mean anything. I love our Father in Heaven and Jesus so much. On this Thanksgiving Day I give my thanks to Him for EVERYTHING!
