The Christmas Blues

The day after Christmas is always such a sad day, but this year I noticed it more than usual.  I think it is because I had everything done so far in advance that I got to enjoy the Christmas season this year.  But the day after Christmas,  I got into my car to run some errands, and the realized the radio is done playing Christmas music, most of the Christmas lights are turned off at people's houses, and the sizzle and excitement that had filled the air for so long are now gone 'snap' just like that. It made me sad.  I know most people are tired of Christmas music and many are glad it's over.  I am included in that number to a certain extent, but it all happens so quickly that I have a hard time with it.  Now when it snows, it's just ugly, cold, snow that I will have to shovel.  It's not Christmas snow anymore.  I am really glad that I am a school teacher and that I have the next week off to stay at home and enjoy my family.  If I had to go back to work as soon as some people have to go back to work, I would really have the "after Christmas blues."
This year I have really enjoyed my time off.  The kids don't really fight.  They have been really good about sharing the Wii, and we've been able to enjoy our videos that we all got for Christmas at night.  The kids have all had their friends over to play, and we've enjoyed each others company.  I had a really nice vacation.  Unfortunately, it all comes to an end on Tuesday.  Then the "after Christmas blues" will really set in.  I hope my students are up for it. Heh, heh, heh...
